Job description

We are looking for an experienced Application Engineer to join our Energy team and support customers with advanced monitoring and diagnostic solutions for high-voltage electrical assets.

In this role, you will be the technical link between customers, sales, product management, and engineering. You will support the full customer journey: from technical sales discussions and product demonstrations to field testing, system installation, commissioning, training, data analysis, and post-installation support.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical engineering, power systems, high-voltage equipment, or condition monitoring, with practical experience or a strong interest in Partial Discharge diagnostics. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that combines field work, application expertise, technical communication, and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Process Support

  • Support sales teams during customer meetings, proposal preparation, product demonstrations, workshops, and technical discussions.

  • Help understand customer needs and translate them into suitable technical solutions.

  • Explain complex technical topics clearly to both technical and commercial audiences.

  • Support the preparation of technical content for proposals, presentations, and customer communication.

Project Delivery & Commissioning

  • Support testing and monitoring for high-voltage assets such as transformers, switchgear, cables, and other grid equipment.

  • Plan and execute customer site visits, field demonstrations, installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting of monitoring systems.

  • Prepare technical reports based on field measurements, monitoring data, or third-party results.

  • Deliver customer training on theory, measurement principles, system operation, data analysis, reporting, and asset condition assessment.

  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, operations, logistics, and sales to ensure successful project delivery.

General Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to application notes, technical documentation, training materials, case studies, conference papers, and presentations.

  • Provide structured feedback from field experience to improve products, applications, and customer support processes.

  • Share application knowledge internally.

Job requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.

  • Typically, 3–6+ years of experience in electrical systems, applications, testing, diagnostics, or a related technical field.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate technical issues in field and customer-facing environments.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.

  • Customer-oriented mindset, professional attitude, and ability to build trust with customers and internal teams.

  • Strong business ethics, reliable work approach, and professional personal character.

  • Willingness to travel internationally for customer visits, installations, commissioning, training, and events, typically around 30% of the time.

Nice to have:

  • Foundational to solid understanding of Partial Discharge theory, measurement techniques, or condition monitoring.

  • Experience with high-voltage electrical equipment, substations, grid assets, or industrial power systems.

  • Practical experience with PD testing, PD data interpretation.

  • Experience with fibre optic sensing, acoustic emission, asset management, condition monitoring, structural health monitoring, non-destructive testing, or predictive maintenance.
