Optics11 is an Amsterdam-based high-tech startup on a mission to innovate underwater security and put Netherlands on the map of European sonar industry. Our novel fiberoptic technology is redefining underwater security, enabling advanced sonar solutions for safeguarding of key naval and underwater infrastructure. As a Project Engineer, you’re an essential gear in the Project Management team, working closely with senior project managers and various internal stakeholders across our teams. With a solid foundation in engineering, you’ll take on challenges supporting delivery on our projects and help managing communication across departments. Your contributions will ensure projects stay on track, align with business objectives and meet the technical standards required in the energy and defense markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support senior project managers with project planning, scheduling, and task coordination to keep projects on track, while collaborating closely with internal teams to communicate goals, gather information, and ensure alignment across engineering, product, and operations.
- Stay up-to-date on planning, budgets, and risks, and be prepared to provide clear, concise updates to the project team and stakeholders.
- Leverage your engineering background to understand project needs and technical requirements, supporting accurate decision-making and execution.
- Apply your analytical skills and fast thinking to address project challenges and find practical solutions to keep projects moving smoothly.

Job requirements
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in a project engineering or project support role, ideally within the energy, defence, or a related technical field.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, with a solid understanding of technical principles.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess problems, evaluate potential solutions, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating across teams and managing internal stakeholder expectations.
- Proactive and detail-oriented, able to manage small tasks independently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Must currently reside in the Netherlands.
You'll be working with clients in the defense and security sectors, obtaining a Certificate of No Objection issued by the AIVD (Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory.
