Are you an experienced Project Director with a technical background? Looking for a high-tech organization where you can implement innovative products? Optics11 is developing and implementing a new range of innovative instruments, based on optical fiber sensing. For our team in Amsterdam, we are looking for a Project Director.


As a Project Director you will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from concept to successful completion. This includes maintaining strategic relationships with customers and stakeholders, leading the project group, setting up work schedules, monitoring quality, and overseeing the final delivery of your projects. Together with the technical lead, you will handle complex development projects, specifically in the field of underwater security.


So what do we expect you to do as Project Director?

  • Acting as a client ambassador during intricate technical development projects.
  • Leading and guiding the project team towards successful project completion.
  • Understanding the complex landscape of stakeholders and strategically managing relations and expectations.
  • Overseeing contract and bid management.
  • Handling internal change initiatives, particularly those related to defense industry projects.
  • Providing regular updates to stakeholders throughout various project phases.
  • Leveraging your senior experience, specifically in the defense industry, to navigate project challenges and drive success.

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • Possess at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or physics.
  • Have at least 7 years of experience as a project manager, preferably handling development projects in the defense industry.
  • Demonstrate strong and proven stakeholder management skills at various levels.
  • Are result-driven, a people connector, and ambitious.
  • Exhibit organizational sensitivity and customer orientation as key competencies.
  • Are willing to travel occasionally.
  • Have a high level of security clearance, essential for managing sensitive defense projects.
