We are looking for a Sonar Systems Engineer for the exciting activities in our defense department. You will become part of our young, enthusiastic, and cross-functional engineering team, working in a dynamic and stimulating international environment and with great growth opportunities.
So what will you be doing?
As a Sonar Systems Engineer, you work in an international multidisciplinary team on the system solution architecture, developing test plans, and conducting field tests and demonstrations, and sharing the results with internal and external stakeholders. You will work closely with the sales and business development and the product management teams, as well as external service provider companies and end clients.
- Understanding the needs and requirements for successful execution of joint trials and demonstrations, and collaborating closely with Navies, defense companies, and service providers to ensure successful trials.
- Planning, coordinating and executing pilot demonstrations and field trials for our hydrophone towed arrays and our static subsea acoustic monitoring systems.
- Processing and evaluation of measurement data, as well as reporting and documenting the test results for internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting the business development and the sales team in customer meetings with technical discussions
- Preparing technical proposals and solution architectures
- Conceptualization of test setups and testing methodologies in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Design and realization of test setups and the associated infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical and software components (in collaboration with our mechanical/electrical/software engineers).
- Interacting and providing feedback to hardware and software R&D engineers and product managers supporting the development and improvement of our sensors and sensing systems.

Job requirements
The ideal candidate…
… probably doesn't exist, but we would like to get to know you if you check a few boxes below:
- BSc/MSc in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace/Naval engineering or similar.
- More than 5 years of experience in a similar position as a system or test engineer.
- A generalist with a broad interest in technology and interdisciplinary fields.
- Good knowledge of data processing and analysis with Python or similar tools.
- Good communication skills in English, with an open and social personality.
- Structured and independent way of working, affinity with project management.
- Experience in vibro-acoustics and/or naval industry is a strong plus.
- Experience with fiber optic measurement principles and/or interferometry is a plus.
- Have flexibility in traveling abroad.
- Eligibility to obtain NATO/Dutch security clearance.
You'll be working with clients in the defense and security sectors, obtaining a Certificate of No Objection issued by the AIVD (Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory.
