Are you looking to contribute to enabling the energy transition and safeguarding our vital offshore infrastructure? Our systems do just that. Optics11 enables life-time extension of the high voltage electricity grid through its Partial Discharge monitoring solution. Our optic-fibre hydrophones help protect the offshore energy infrastructure.


We are looking for a seasoned User Experience Expert to join our Product Management team. This role requires building a deep understanding of the use of both our hardware and software by our energy and defense partners and clients. You will be at the forefront of exploring, researching, and shaping the experiences that define our products, ensuring our technology not only meets but anticipates user needs across complex, high-stakes environments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse the use of Optics11 products by the customers and end-user and identify any enhancements that will improve the overall user experience and overall cost and time savings. 
  • Analyse our fielded equipment in primarily the energy industry (think high voltage installations) and the use of our software platform. Secondarily, the deployment and use of our underwater hydrophone hardware in the offshore energy and defence environments.
  • Conduct user research (incl. field research and Interviews), create personas, and develop user flows to inform product managers and guide continuous product improvements.
  • Shape and propose enhancements and collaborate with product managers to ensure enhancements align with business objectives.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to assess technical feasibility, understand complexity, and validate enhancements.
  • Join our application engineers in the field to do research.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in User Experience Research, with a proven track record of conducting research in technical fields, preferably in infrastructure, energy, defense, or similar industries.
  • Strong understanding of both hardware and software products, particularly in complex and regulated environments, e.g., industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods and tools, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying research findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, adaptability to challenges, and a problem-solving mindset to creatively address user pain points.
  • Willingness to travel and do field research.


You'll be working with clients in the defense and security sectors, obtaining a Certificate of No Objection issued by the AIVD (Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory.
